Sanger Garden

The new Alex Sanger Garden was built and funded by the Alex Sanger PTA in the spring of 2023.  It is located behind the school and was started in conjunction with Out Teach.

Benefits of having a school garden include the following:

• Connects Math, Science, and Language Arts to the real world, adding relevance, purpose, and meaning to daily instruction  

• Empowers teachers to create unforgettable learning experiences + measurable results

• Supports Sanger’s initiative in addressing students’ social/ emotional needs & sensory driven, curriculum

• Engaging in gardening is linked to increased alertness, cognitive ability, and social skills

• Children who participate in outdoor gardening learn self-control and mindfulness, both of which have been shown to reduce depression and anxiety

• Provide Sanger students + families with fresh vegetables/fruits!

A successful garden is one that is well-designed, well-maintained, and has a dedicated group of teachers, staff, and volunteers who are passionate about using it as a learning space.

How can you help?  Join the Alex Sanger Garden Committee. Volunteer in the garden and help students plant, water, pull weeds, and harvest our crops! Donate soil, seeds, mulch, and other garden supplies. Donate to the Alex Sanger Garden Fund.
